ALS Coach Cranney Charity Challenge

Just before Christmas, one of our coaches was diagnosed with the very ugly disease, ALS, that has devastated his family and our team. We are doing what we can to raise awareness and funds for ALS in his honor and have dedicated our February Bantam 1 tournament to him and this cause.

We are hoping the  Bow River family can help out in anyway they can to raise awareness of our situation and our cause to support ALS, Please click on the links below if you would like to help us support the fight against ALS.

Todd Greiner
Head Coach
Bow River Bruins, Bantam 1.
Bow River Bantam 1 hosted the “Coach Cranney Charity Challenge” in Banff in February in honor of their Coach Trevor Cranney who was diagnosed with ALS before Christmas.  In what was to be the Cranney’s family last game in Bow River as a Coach and a Player, the Bantam team played some of their best hockey of the year to win the tournament in an emotionally charged final 3-2 over McKnight.  More importantly, the Bantam 1 team raised almost $40,000 for ALS and the Cranney family in a month that inspired each and every player and family.  ALS has since nominated the Bow River Bantam 1 Team for a National Award for their charitable contributions and for raising awareness of this devastating disease.  “I have never coached a team of young men with such character and spirit – their achievement is awe-inspiring.”  - Coach Greiner.
BRBHA and Bob Finlayson – thanks for your support….you guys are an amazing hockey family and association!!  It has truly been an amazing journey this year.  Todd.
