BRBHA Nomination Process for Directors Objective 1) To provide the members of the Bow River Bruins Hockey Association with advanced notice of the individuals running for a Director position within the Association so that they can make an informed decision when they vote. 2) To allow all candidates running for a particular Director position with sufficient time to prepare for the election. Process An incumbent Director (including an Executive Officer or a Community Officer) whose position is up for re-election must declare by notice to the President, his or her desire to re-run for their position at least 14 days prior to the date of the AGM. No less than 12 days prior to the date of the AGM, a list of Director positions up for re-election will be posted, together with notice as to whether the incumbent Director intends to re-rerun for the position. Candidates running for Director positions will be provided with the opportunity to make a brief presentation to the members at the AGM followed by a question and answer period with the members.
Notes on Votes per Family and Voting
Bow River’s bylaws for purposes of voting at a Member meeting define a member as: “Member” means any of: (i) a Player who is eighteen (18) years of age or older; or (ii) a parent or guardian of a Player under the age of eighteen (18) years of age; provided that each Player under the age of eighteen (18) years of age may only have one (1) parent or guardian as it’s representative Member for the purposes exercising such Player’s right to vote at any meeting of the Members.
This means, for example, that a family with 2 (two) children properly registered with Bow River will have 2 (two) votes.
